CNIB tournament
winners
The Estevan Lions Club hosted their annual golf
tournament for the CNIB July 10 at the Estevan Woodlawn Golf Course.
Participants hit tee shots on Hole 1, and putted on Hole 14, while
wearing blindfolds, simulating the challenges for blind golfers.
Tournament winners (L-R) Gary Malaryk, Wes Kreklewich and Brenda
Kerslake, who shot a 66 in the Texas scramble tournament, received
congratulations from tournament chair Bob Abernethy. Missing:

Smokey visits Estevan
Smokey the Bear visited families at the Estevan Public Library
July 11. Smokey reminded children that they need to be careful
with campfires. Walter Matieyshen from Saskatchewan Fire Management
and Forest Protection showed pictures of the damage caused by
forest fires.

Ice making begins

(L-R) Pauline Sovdi and Philip Henricksen flooded the ice at the
Civic Auditorium in Estevan July 15. The process of making the
ice is well underway at the arena. Hockey tournaments will start
at the Civic in late July.
