McLenehan, Daae and Rosselli win features
Les McLenehan, Austin Daae and Robbie Rosselli were the feature race winners at the Estevan Motor Speedway's regular program June 20.
McLenehan won the IMCA modified feature race. Devin Raynard was second, Aaron Turnbull was third and Joren Boyce came in fourth.
Raynard now has a three-point lead, 149-146, over McLenehan in the modified track championship standings. Tyler Wagner is third with 137 points.
Daae came in first in the IMCA hobby stock feature. Cory Evans finished second, Jim Mann was third and Lee Schaff finished fourth.
Schaff remains on top of the overall hobby stock standings with 195 points. Cory Evans is second at 188. Jim Mann is third with 180 points.
Rosselli won the IMCA street stock feature, followed by Wes Baier, Ryan Harris and defending series points champion Sterling Labatte.
Harris leads the track championship standings with 186 points, nine more than Labatte. Wes Baier is third with 173 points.
The races were part of the annual Pure Energy Motorsports Weekend in Estevan. It was also Kids' Night at the track.
The next event at the track will be a visit from the Imperial Stunt Drivers on July 1. The seven-person team will perform an array of stunts.
The next racing at the track will be a doubleheader for the Dakota Modified Tour July 13 and 14. Veteran NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace will drive a modified car on the 14th.

Drag racers open season
The Estevan Drag Racing Association held their first Arizona Mechanical Bracket Bash program of the season June 21 at the Estevan Airport.
Bryan Ludlam of Reston, Manitoba, won the Quick 16. He was driving a 1975 Chev Nova. Ludlam finished with a time of 6.985 seconds in the final on the quarter-mile track. Marcel Van de Woestyne of Weyburn, driving a 1990 Ford Mustang, was second in the Quick 16 with a time of 7.408 seconds.
Wayne Martin of Weyburn, driving a 1975 Pontiac Firebird, won the A side with a time of 8.747 seconds. John Hermann of Weyburn, driving a 1980 Olds Cutlass, was second with a time of 9.574 seconds.
Nigel Higgs of Regina won the bike class with a time of 6.737 seconds in the final. He was riding a 1990 Kawasaki ZRX. Glenn Schiml of Pilot Butte, riding a 1996 Harley Davidson, posted a time of 6.25 seconds in the final, but he broke out and was disqualified.
Damon Doerr of Bienfait won the junior dragster event while driving a 1990 Dash Racing vehicle. Willie Forrest of Estevan came in second while driving a 2004 Quick Kids. He posted a time of 8.352 seconds, but he broke out in the final.
The next program is July 26.

Motocross club opens season
The Trackside Motocross Association held their first races of the season June 20 as part of the Pure Energy Motorsports Weekend.
Randy Franke finished first in the veteran category. Chris Elliott was second and Cheyenne Sernick was third. Troy Revet, Chris Elliott and Jason Loewen were the top three in the Open A class.
Tyler Haddow topped the Open B class. Jamie Leptich and Alex Matte were second and third, respectively. Cameron Donavan won the Open C class. Dugan Anderson was second and John Hulbert was third.
Revet also won the youth category. Loewen was second and Haddow was third.
Keely Toles won the women's division. Andrea Sernick and Tory Franke were second and third, respectively.
Tristan MacDonald won the 50 cc class. A.J. Mitchell came in second and Kyler Horrigan was third. Ty Goforth finished first in 65 cc, followed by Keenan Weckend and Daniel Klassen. Kade Anderson won the 85 cc division, followed by Durrel Kopec and Brody Farr.
Anderson also won the super mini division, with Kopec second and Jordan Ippolito third. Derek King won the small wheel beginner division. Scott Needham came in second and Roark Franke came in third.
The races were also the second of eight stops on the South Corner Racing Circuit.
The next program at the Trackside Motocross Association's facility is August 22.

Rohatyn wins Weyburn tournament
Estevan's Nolan Rohatyn recently won the Molson Crocus Masters golf tournament at the Weyburn Golf Course. Rohatyn posted a two-day total score of 146. He shot a 73 in each round, and he won the tournament by a stroke over
Weyburn's Rick Hallberg. Estevan's Pat Murphy finished in a tie for third with a 149 total.

Bass tournament on Boundary Dam


The KRJ International Bass Tournament on June 20 attracted
teams to the Boundary Dam Reservoir.

Josh and Mark Michel of Estevan finished in top spot. Their fish weighed a total of 14.30 pounds. The Michel's pocketed $1,300 for winning the tournament.
Mark Michel also caught the largest fish of the tournament at 4.40 pounds. He won an additional $200 and a trophy.
Alan Nicholas and Rick Breisnes, both from Estevan, finished second with fish that had a total weight of 14.08 pounds. They won $1,100. Mike Reid of Estevan and Andrew Rogozinski of Fort Frances, Ontario came in third. Their fish weighed 14.04 pounds and they shared a $600 prize.
Dwight Tonn and Arden Rosom, both of Regina, came in fourth. They won $400 for fish that weighed 13.98 pounds.

Murray GM team wins league

The Murray GM pee wee baseball team capped their season by winning Estevan Minor Baseball's Pee Wee House Tournament, which took place from June 15 to 21. Events planned for rodeo

Hundreds of rodeo competitors are expected to be in Estevan from July 2 to 4 for the city's stop on the Canadian Cowboys Association rodeo circuit.
Events for this year include saddle bronc, tie-down roping, bareback riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding. There will also be novice saddle bronc and junior girls' barrel racing.
Performances start at 7 p.m. each night.
Laura Lausen of Wawota will perform some trick riding during the intermission.
Gordo Bones is the rodeo clown this year. Barry Boghean will be the announcer. Art Francis will provide the livestock.
Several other events are planned in conjunction with the rodeo. The annual SMILE Services parade is the afternoon of the 2nd. The parade will begin in the 1600 block of Second Street at 4 p.m., move through downtown Estevan, and finish at the Souris Valley Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Local 4H students will be involved in achievement days. The annual Rotary 4H regional beef show and sale is on the 4th. Awards will be handed out, and cattle will be auctioned off.
The light horse show, which has various equestrian events, will take place as well.
A ranch rodeo is scheduled for the afternoon of July 5. Local cowboys and cowgirls will be joined by celebrities in a variety of events.
