DELTA, B.C. - A man who skipped out of his sex trial in Arizona has been arrested in Canada more than two years later.
Police in the Metro Vancouver suburb of Delta, B.C., say George Ross Wilcox was arrested on July 30 and is being held on an outstanding extradition warrant.
His was charged in Pima County, Arizona, in 2009 with four counts of sexual contact with a child under 15.
Officials say Wilcox fled the state before his trial ended and, in his absence, was found guilty of two of the charges.
Wilcox is a Canadian citizen and Delta Police say they began investigating in October 2009 after being warned that Wilcox could be travelling to British Columbia.
Officers in Delta will continue working with the Justice Department as the extradition process continues.
Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version incorrectly reported that Delta officers will work with the U.S. Department of Justice
