Fun at the beach

The third annual Beach Bash was this past weekend and despite some early rain, it turned out to be a great event.

The one thing that I like about the event is that there were activities for all ages to enjoy. One of the more popular activities was the beach volleyball.

Even after the tournament was finished, the courts were still full of people playing the sport. Having those activities at Boundary Dam gives people an extra activity to do, and they were in full use during the Beach Bash.

One of the entertainment acts that was popular was the magic show. And it was actually good. Even though the show was directed towards children, it was also entertaining for the adults. Usually when there is a children’s act, the adults watching it with their kids do get a little bored, but this magician had tricks that were actually hard to figure out.

Other than the beach volleyball, there wasn’t too much activity on the beach. There was a sandcastle contest, but cloudy weather unfortunately kept people away.

One thing that was different from last year were the music acts. Last year they had bands throughout the afternoon. And I enjoyed watching the entertainment in the afternoon, because I’m not that much if a night person and this year that’s when they had the music.

The beer gardens did attract most of the older crowd, as they had the Saskatchewan Roughriders game playing there in the evening, and live music throughout the night. (I'm not sure whether the Roughrider game was actually worth watching).

But for me I’m not really a fan of the cabaret, so even if that was of the main attractions of the Beach Bash, I enjoy the afternoon activities more like swimming and building sandcastles.

Also another main attraction at the Beach Bash was the fireworks. They did put on a good show, and there were a lot of them. There seemed to be a slight delay, as I thought they were over, but they weren’t.

The Beach Bash is good for Estevan, as it encourages people to spend time at the beach and it showcases all that Boundary Dam has to offer.

And with the campground there it is becoming an attraction, and a place to hang out in the summertime.
