The Pure Energy Early Learning Centre and Estevan Day Care Cooperative opened its doors to the public to showcase all that they have to offer during an open house on August 17.

Program director Shawna Judd said they had about 50 people in attendance, which was better than what they had last year for their inaugural open house. A variety of activities were offered for children and parents to enjoy.

People filled sensory bags, tried various experiments, and played with materials like Flubber and Play-Doh. They also painted using plungers or even pantyhose filled with rice or tennis balls.

A lemonade stand, a bake sale, raffles and silent auctions were offered, with proceeds going towards the day care's new outdoor learning environment.

Judd said they wanted to offer outdoor activities, so that they could promote the outdoor learning area. An early afternoon thunderstorm forced them to move inside. Once the skies cleared, many people shifted their attention to the outdoor learning area.

"Everybody seemed to really enjoy it," said Judd.

Judd said they wanted to show the public what happens each day at the day care. Parents who already have children enrolled could sit down, play and interact with their children.

"So this gave them the time to relax, enjoy (their time together), allow the kids to show them everything, and wander through the centre and see things that they don't always get to see," said Judd.

The day care also distributed information to parents to promote their programs.
