Pool Passport

Though the school supplies have already hit the shopping aisles, IT IS STILL SUMMER! I refuse to think of how many more weeks there are until snow hits, but instead I’m doing everything I can to take advantage of every warm day.

With my kids now being at ages where their independence allows us to take on a few more adventures, we’ve been swimming anywhere and anytime we can. Up until this point I’ve been somewhat oblivious to the outdoors pools in the surrounding area but this year we are taking full advantage of them!

I thought it might be fun to create a pool passport for the remainder of the summer. It’s easy to throw together a simple little book devoting a page to each of the pools we’d like to visit. Even starting just in Estevan you can include each of the play park splash pools, the leisure centre pool and a bit further out, Boundary Dam!

I’ve also been pleasantly surprised to discover the outdoor pools in surrounding communities and spent a couple of afternoons at the Lampman pool the other week. We had so much fun!

Other communities within approximately a 45 minute drive that have outdoor pools are Stoughton, Weyburn, Midale, and if you can handle going a bit further you can take in the watersides at Kennosee Lake.

The out of town pools are close enough that it can easily be an afternoon trip but would also be great to make a day out of it. In heading back up north this summer our family has made an effort to play tourist where we grew up, and seek out places we didn’t give much thought to when we lived there.

The same can be done with these pool outings. We live 30 minutes from Lampman but have never eaten in a restaurant there so why not do it at the end of our pool day?

Whatever you do it’s a great opportunity to explore the surrounding communities and feel like you’ve gotten away from home for a day!
