Riders blast Argos

The Saskatchewan Roughriders took down the Toronto Argonauts 37-9 in a one-sided game. The defence got after Argos quarterback Ricky Ray and forced some turnovers. The Riders latest running back, Will Ford, had 17 carries for 113 yards, along with three touchdowns. The Riders' record is 2-2, and their next game is against the Ottawa RedBlacks.

Other scores from Week 5 were: the Winnipeg Blue Bombers hammered the B.C. Lions 23-6, the Calgary Stampeders beat the Edmonton Eskimos 26-22, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beat the RedBlacks 33-26.

In the Arena Football League, the Cleveland Gladiators got past the Tampa Bay Storm 56-49 in their regular season finale. The Gladiators record is 17-1, which is the best record in the league, and they will face the Philadelphia Soul, who had a 9-9 record, in the first round of the playoffs.

Other scores from Week 20 were: the Orlando Predators got past the Arizona Rattlers 56-50, the Pittsburgh Power beat the Soul 64-34, the San Antonio Talons beat the New Orleans Voodoo 38-35 in overtime and the San Jose Sabercats beat the Iowa Barnstormers 72-35.

In the Western Major Baseball League, the Regina Red Sox beat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 5-1 in a one-sided game. The Red Sox are in first place in the East Division.

In Major Baseball League, the Seattle Mariners took one of four games from the Baltimore Orioles. The Mariners are in third place in the American League West.

The Toronto FC of Major League Soccer lost to the New England Revolution 2-1 in a close game. Toronto’s record is 7-6-5, and they are in third place in the Eastern Conference.
