The regular season is finished in the Saskota Baseball League, and the Carlyle Cardinals have claimed top spot with a 14-1-1 record.
They won 11 straight games to close out the season. Their most recent victory came on the road, as they defeated the Redvers A’s 5-3 on July 22. Carlyle also beat the A’s 5-1 on the 17th.
The Estevan Tower Wolves (12-3-1) finished in second place. They split their two most recent games. The Wolves lost 4-2 to the Carnduff Astros on July 22, two days after beating the Lampman Pirates 12-5 at home on July 20.
The Astros (11-5) finished the season in third. They won their final three regular season games. Not only did they beat Estevan, but they earned a 5-3 road victory against the Kenosee Cubs on July 20, and they also defeated the Wawota Pats 4-2 on July 17 at home.
Kenosee (6-7-3) is fourth. Their most recent game was the loss to Carnduff. They did beat the Wawota Pats 4-2 on July 18.
In fifth was the Oxbow Chiefs (5-6-5); they closed out the season with a 2-2 tie over the Lampman Pirates.
Lampman (5-7-4) finished sixth. They had four games late in the year: the tie against Oxbow, a 13-10 home field loss to Wawota on July 21, the July 20 loss to Estevan, and a 7-3 victory over the Arcola Threshers on July 17.
The Threshers (4-10-2) wound up in seventh. Their only recent game was the loss to Lampman.
Wawota (4-10-2) finished in eight, as they went 1-2 in their final three games, and Redvers (1-13-2) wound up in the bottom
The Saskota League concludes with the annual Jack Harbourne Memorial Tournament from July 25 to 27 at Kenosee Lake.
The tournament will use a round-robin format, with two pools of four. Round robin games will be on the 25th, the 26th and the morning of the 27th. Tie-breakers, if necessary, will be played at noon on the 27th. Semi-finals are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the league final is slated for 6 p.m.
