Estevan Police Service members were alerted to a possible impaired driver on Sunday night, following a hit-and-run accident at a local business. The victim called police, and followed the suspect until officers arrived on the scene. A 30-year-old Moose Jaw male was arrested for the hit-and-run, and for impaired driving. He will appear later in August to answer to the charges.
Police were alerted to some intoxicated males knocking down safety flags and cones in the downtown construction area on Saturday night. Police located the males, and arrested them for mischief and for public intoxication. The males were lodged in cells overnight.
Officers dealt with numerous other intoxicated individuals throughout the evening. Several were arrested and lodged in cells until sober. They each face a $200 fine for public intoxication.
Police checked several vehicles, and one Estevan male received a three-day driving suspension for being over the .04 limit.
Members received a call about an intoxicated female walking on a street on Friday night. Officers checked the area, and located a female walking on the roadway in traffic. The female was arrested and lodged in cells until sober, and was released in the morning.
Police observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was checked, and a 22-year-old male from Carrot River was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the police station, where he was charged with failing to provide a breath sample. Open alcohol was also found in the vehicle. The male was held until sober, and will appear in Estevan court on alcohol-related charges later in August.
Police were later called to assist a local cab company with some intoxicated individuals. Police arrived on scene and arrested a Manitoba male for being drunk in public, and for public mischief. He was held in cells until sober.
