Eels enter final meets before semis

The Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club recently competed at two swim meets, earning 13 medals.

The Estevan Golden Eels Swim Club collected a total of 13 overall medals in recent swim meets.

The first competition took place in Biggar on July 12. Estevan had seven swimmers finish with overall age group medals.

Hannah Mantei won gold in the 12-and-under girls' division. Josh Wilson (12-and-under boys), Thomas Wakely (14-and-under boys) and Taylor Fornwald (15 to 17 boys) all earned silver.

Bronze medalist winners were: Adah DeLeeuw (10-and-under girls), Racquelle Gibbons (14-and-under girls) and Samuel Beahm (15 to 17 boys).

The following day, the Eels competed in Rosetown, and athletes earned six overall age group medals.

Mantei won gold for the second consecutive day in the 12-and-under girls' division, and Wilson earned gold in 12-and-under boys' class.

Silver medalist were: DeLeeuw- silver (10-and-under girls), Wakely (14-and- under boys) and Fornwald (15 to 17 boys).

Justin Linthicum finished with a bronze medal in the 8-and-under boys' category.

Up next for the Golden Eels will be the provincial semi-final meet in Assiniboia on July 19.
