The Souris Valley Museum's summer camps have proven to be very popular with local youth.
All three installments of the Pioneer Day Camp that will be offered this summer are sold out. The first camp ran from July 7 to 11, and featured such activities as crafts, tours, old-fashioned school sessions, outdoor games, and butter and ice cream making lessons.
Fourteen youth were part of the first Pioneer Day Camp. Education assistant Mercedes Morstad said they also have 14 children registered for a camp from July 21 to 25, and 15 for the final one from August 11 to 15.
The museum will also offer Discovery Day Camps on July 15 and 16, and August 6 and 7. Young people will take mining tours, and visit the Boundary Dam beach site and Roche Percee.
Morstad said six of nine spots for the first Discovery Camp are filled. Seven of nine are taken for the second camp.
