Summer reading program starts July 8

The Estevan Public Library will be offering a variety of activities for local youth during its annual summer reading program.

Registrants will enjoy games, activities, crafts and reading on a regular basis through the program. Prizes will be handed out during the games.

The first session is on Tuesday, July 8.

The program runs weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

The library said that the summer reading program keeps children reading during the summer months, and young people have fun in the process. The library also noted that studies show children who do not continue to read during the summer may lose some of their reading abilities.
