Carlyle closes the gap

The Estevan Tower Wolves remain on top of the Saskota Baseball League with and 8-1-1 record, but their lead is shrinking.

Estevan's latest game was a 12-12 tie against the Redvers A’s on June 24.

The Carlyle Cardinals (6-1-1) are in second, and recently picked up two wins. They defeated the Wawota Pats 12-2 at home on June 24, and earned a pivotal 5-3 victory on the road against the Carnduff Astros on June 19.

Carnduff (6-3) is in third. They recovered from the loss against Carlyle to shut out the Arcola Threshers 8-0 on June 24.

In fourth place are the Kenosee Cubs (5-3-2). Two of their three recent games ended with a tie. They tied the Lampman Pirates 5-5 on June 24, and the Oxbow Chiefs 9-9 on June 20. The also picked up an 8-4 road win against Redvers on June 22.

The Lampman Pirates (4-3-2) are in fifth and the Chiefs (2-5-2) are in sixth. Both teams had draws in their most recent games.

Wawota (2-6-1) is in seventh and Arcola (1-6-2) is in eighth. Redvers is in the cellar with a record of 1-7-1.

Upcoming games in the league will be played June 26, and then July 1, 2 and 3.
