Theft is under investigation

The Estevan Police Service and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public's assistance with the theft of two portable generators.

Both were taken from parked trucks in the early morning hours of June 19. One truck was located on the north side of the Beefeater, and the other truck was in the 1300 block of Second Street.

One of the generators is a blue Yamaha 3,000-watt device. The other is a red Honda 3,000-watt machine.

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.

Other recent highlights for police were:

Police were called to a disturbance at a residence on the south end of the city on Tuesday night. The incident was between two tenants sharing a residence. Both parties were referred to the Residential Tenancies Act, and were instructed to speak to their landlord about the issue. No further action was required.

Police were called to a local school for a report of young people on the roof. When police arrived, they did not locate anyone in the area.

A disturbance involving a parking issue was also reported. Both parties were spoken to about the bylaws and parking in the area. The matter has been referred to the bylaw enforcement officer to monitor parking in the area.

Police received a noise complaint about a condo unit on the city’s north end. When police attended, the noise had stopped and all was quiet. Police spoke with the complainant and advised to call back if the noise started again.

Police were dispatched to an altercation at the Leisure Centre on Saturday night. It was learned that a 42-year-old Estevan female was responsible, and was subsequently charged with assault and uttering threats. She will appear in court later in July to answer to the charges.

Officers were alerted to numerous party complaints on Friday and Saturday night. Police located the offending parties and warned the owners. All parties were shut down and several home owners were charged under the bylaw. They face a $250 fine due to the complaints.

Police observed a truck erratically driving at a high speed on Friday night. Members stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was intoxicated. The 30-year-old Estevan male was charged with impaired driving and will appear in Estevan court later in July.
