The Souris Valley Theatre first event of the year was a concert on June 12.
Jacky Bell and Thunder played gospel, bluegrass, country and even rock music for about 80 people who were in attendance.
“The whole group was just very eclectic,” said theatre manager Jocelyn Anderson. “They did a bit of everything.”
Bell supplied vocals and played guitar during the songs. Among the other performers was Jason Heistad, who played the fiddle and multiple guitars.
Heistad's no stranger to Estevan, as he was one of the musicians in last year's performance of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.
“They did a portion of the performance acoustically, so they grabbed acoustic guitars, and turned off all the mics, and that was really cool,” said Anderson.
A barbecue supper was served prior to the concert.
The theatre's next event will be opening night for The Marvellous Wonderettes on Thursday, July 3. The show will continue until July 19, with performances from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
This summer's other production, The Odd Couple, will run from July 23 to August 9, with performances again from Tuesday to Saturday night.
The theatre will have one other concert this year. An event named Summer's End on August 23 will feature The Chris Henderson Band, the Spencer Vaughn Band, Lexie Tytlandsvik and Karissa Dawn Hoffort. All entertainers are originally from southeast Saskatchewan.
