Chamney qualifies for westerns

Estevan Legion Track and Field member William Chamney has qualified for the western Canadian championships next month.

Chamney had a dominant showing at the recent Saskathletics Provincial Championships in Regina, as he finished first in all three of his events in the youth division.

He took top spot in the high jump with a leap of 1.7 metres, the 100-metre sprint with a time of 11.47 seconds, and the 200-metre dash with a time of 23.17 seconds.

Chamney will be part of the Saskatchewan entry for westerns, which will boast top young athletes from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The competition will be held in Saskatoon, starting on July 19.
