Gold and silver at provincials

Six members of the Estevan Comprehensive School’s (ECS) Track and Field team participated in the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association’s track and field provincial championship on June 6 and 7.

The ECS team finished in the top eight, and brought home a gold and silver medal.

Jenna Kreklewich won the gold medal in the junior girls' long jump, leaping 4.96 meters. She also finished seventh in the 100-metre dash, recording a time of 13.67 seconds, and placed 23rd in the triple jump.

In senior boys' competition, William Chamney earned a silver medal in the 200-metre dash with a time of 22.93 seconds. He also finished fifth in the 100-metre dash, recording a time of 11.52 seconds.

Also in senior boys, Cole MacCuish finished sixth in the 100 metres with a time of 11.61 seconds, and Kyle Seipp was seventh in the discus event, throwing 36.57 metres.

Regan Haukeness contributed to the senior boys' four-by-400-metre relay team, which finished 11th. He also competed in the 400-metre dash, and placed 26th.

Carly Kreklewich placed 12th in the junior girls' 3,000-metre run with a time of 13 minutes and 1.69 seconds, and finished 14th in the 1,500-metre run, recording a time of 5:36.43. She also competed in the 800-metre dash in 2:48.74, finishing eighteenth.

Shae Little and Karina Mokrousova also qualified for provincials, but were unable to compete due to injury.
