The Lampman Pirates faced the Wawota Pats in men's hardball action at the Lampman sports weekend.

The annual Lampman Sports Weekend featured multiple sports and other activities from June 6 to 8.

The Carlyle Cardinals won the six-team men's baseball event, defeating the Estevan Tower Wolves in the A final. The Wawota Pats upended the Lampman Pirates in the B final.

The women's fastball competition was a three-team event that employed a round-robin format. Alameda finished first with a 2-0 record. Redvers (1-1) was second and Estevan (0-2) came in third.

Slow pitch attracted the most teams with 20. The Heat beat the Metro Bulldogs in the A final. Liq'd won the B final.

Twelve teams were in the beach volleyball competition. The Bumping Uglies won the A final and Average Joes took the B final.

Lampman Recreation director Haley Ingham noted there were several other events during the sports weekend.

An outdoor family movie night happened on June 6 on one of the ball diamonds. The movie Frozen was shown.

A children's corner was held in the curling rink on June 7. An inflatable playground and face painting from Ashley Kerslake proved to be popular, Ingham said.

The annual street dance was in the evening of the 7th. Rain forced the cancellation of the concert, but many people still turned out to socialize.

Community breakfasts were served on June 7 and 8.

Highlights from June 8 included music from the Happy Wanderers, a visit from the STARS Air Ambulance's training trailer, and a community beef supper.
