Carlyle RCMP respond to scooter accident

Members of the Carlyle RCMP, Carlyle Fire Department and Carlyle EMS were dispatched to an accident involving a medical scooter and a pick-up truck in Carlyle on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the junction of Highways 9 and 13. Investigation revealed that the 84-year-old male driver of the scooter was struck by the truck, which was headed west and pulling a covered trailer.

The scooter drivers sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision, and was airlifted by STARS from the Arcola hospital to Regina General Hospital. He remained in hospital as of Friday morning.  

Names of the drivers will not be released.

The matter is still under investigation.
