Between 300 and 350 golfers are expected to enter the Estevan Oilfield Technical Society's (OTS) annual Oilmen's Golf Tournament, which will be held from May 30 to June 1 at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club.
OTS executive member Tony Sernick said planning has progressed well for the tournament, which will offer 18-hole and 36-hole competitions, a supper and a cabaret.
Golfers in the 18-hole tournament will play a round on either May 30 or 31. Those who are in the 36-hole tournament will play their opening round on one of those two days. There will not be a shotgun start on those days; rather, golfers need to book tee-off times.
The second and final round for the 36-hole competition will be on June 1, beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Scores from the opening round of the 36-hole tournament will determine which flight golfers are entered in for the second round. The second round scores of the 36-hole tournament will determine the tournament champion, and the winners of each flight.
The 36-hole tournament's winner must come from the championship flight.
A steak and lobster supper will happen on the 31st at the Power Dodge Curling Centre. It will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., and Sernick expects that supper will be served at 7 p.m.
A cabaret, which will be open to the public, will begin once the supper is finished. Men Without Shame will be the band.
Sernick said the OTS tournament is always a great social event, and he is hopeful that the weather will cooperate throughout the event's three days.
