Full field for walleye classic

It was another successful year for the Estevan Wildlife Federation’s 11th annual Boundary Dam Walleye Classic on May 10, as a full field of 50 teams participated in the fishing derby.

The team that came in first place, and shared the grand prize of $1,200, was Carl and Coleby Humphries. They caught the maximum of six fish, and the total weight was 14.82 pounds.

The second place team consisted of Michael Nelson and Lee Mielke. Their six fish weighed 13.56 pounds. They also caught the largest fish of the day at 7.48 pounds.

Clinton and Chandler Harkins came in third at 12.90 pounds. In fourth place were Brad and Darren Frater, and their fish weighed 12.34 pounds.

Greg and Stan Gessner came in fifth place at 11.88 pounds, and Delvin and Linda came in sixth place at 11.76 pounds.

The tournament had a catch-and-release format.

The EWF hosts the walleye classic during the first weekend of fishing season each year.
