The Coal Country Run/Walk on May 10 attracted nearly 100 entrants. It was held at the Woodlawn Regional Park for the first time.

The Coal Country Run/Walk proved to be a big success in its new location.

More than 100 people registered for this year's event. There were 59 in the five-kilometre class, 36 in the 10-kilometre event and 15 in the kids' mini-mile.

The event was held at the Woodlawn Regional Park for the first time. Participants navigated a circuit in and around the park; those who were in the 10-kilometre division competed it twice.

Once the entrants were finished, young people had a chance during the mini-mile.

Reilly McGeough had the fastest time in the five-kilometre event at 25 minutes and 39 seconds. Haley Dechaine was the fastest female at 28:30.

Marcel MacFarlane was tops in the 10 kilometres at 37:23. Brandy Miller was the quickest female at 48:07.

In the Kids Mini Mile event, the fastest male was Mitch Himmelspach and fastest female was Haley Copeland.

Proceeds will be directed towards the construction of a new track and field facility at the Estevan Comprehensive School.
