Comments

Irish singer Darren McGovern was the featured performed at the Stay Put Irish Pub Crawl fundraiser for the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum.

The Souris Valley Theatre offered a taste of Ireland on April 26 with their Stay Put Irish Pub Crawl fundraiser at the Estevan Royal Canadian Legion.

About 85 people attended the event, and they enjoyed Irish culture, music and beverages. Amy Michele played her fiddle, with Cathy Sproule serving as the piano accompanist. Local musicians Laurie Fornwald and Megan Miller also provided entertainment.

Darren McGovern, a Weyburn resident who hails from Ireland, was the featured entertainer. He sang numerous Irish songs.

The theatre's board members also used the fundraiser to promote the upcoming season. Bluegrass and country music group Jacky Bell and Thunder, along with fiddler Jason Heisted, will perform on Thursday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Two productions have also been confirmed: The Marvelous Wonderettes from July 3 to 19, and The Odd Couple from July 23 to August 9. Both productions will be performed from Tuesdays to Saturdays, with matinees on Thursdays.

Proceeds from the event will be directed towards the theatre's expenses.
