Lampman students thrive at regionals

Students from the Lampman High School's drama program captured numerous awards and honours at the recent Region 1 Drama Festival in Carlyle.

Many of the students performed Davis Alianiello's The Moustache, and they took top spot in the best overall production and the best technical production competitions. Other students were involved with Hairball, and that play also garnered several awards.

Elusha Baird was named the top stage manager of the festival, and Samantha Paxman won the best character – acting award for her performance as Phil Stevenson in The Moustache.

Shelby Stephen won the runner-up plaque for the Bob Hinnett Award in Technical Excellence for sound design efforts.

Taylor Grimes won the technical excellence medal for costume management for Hairball. Grimes also won an unsung hero award for The Moustache. Hannah Stinson won an unsung hero honour for Hairball.

Acting certificates of merit were presented to Morgan Jones for her performance as The Moustache, Angela Hookenson for her portrayal of Linda Stevenson and Cassidy Siebert for playing Ernest Lipton in The Moustache. Quentin Vanderschaaf (Todd) and Cassidy Roy (Tommy) were presented certificates for Hairball.

Adrianna Raynard, Samantha Greenwood and Alexis Christensen were award technical certificates of merit for the birds they created in The Moustache. Also receiving technical certificates were Darian Freeden, Skye Fichter and Aurora Lay-Street for stage management; and Ryder Scholpp and Brandon Trembly for transportation.

Students from The Moustache have qualified for the provincial drama festival, which will happen May 8 to 10 at the University of Regina.
