Little hired as new director of education

Comments

Lynn Little has been hired as the new director of education for the South East Cornerstone Public School Division.

Her appointment is effective August 1. She replaces Dr. Marc Casavant, who announced his resignation earlier this year.

In her new capacity as director of education, Little will be responsible for the overall health and performance of the organization, the success of its operations and strategic planning.

Little has been employed by South East Cornerstone – and the smaller divisions that were part of the division prior to 2006 – since 1993. She has been a teacher, principal, superintendent of student services and curriculum, and most recently, the superintendent of education – a post she has occupied since 2009.

She was hired to be the division's first assistant director of education earlier this year. But after Casavant announced he would be stepping down, she applied to replace him, and was hired for the job.

Little holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and a Master of Education from the University of Idaho. Her education career started as a teacher at Craik School in 1986.

She was named one of Canada's Outstanding Principals in 2009. She has been the principal of Carievale School, the Estevan Junior High and Pleasantdale School during her education career.

Her husband, Mike, spent 10 years as the principal of the Estevan Comprehensive School.
