More than 140 exhibitors will be showing the products and services that they can offer to the southeast oil patch during the fifth biennial Redvers and District Oil Showcase next month.

Showcase committee member Leta Brisebois said there will be nearly 100 exhibitors indoors at the Redvers Sports Arena, and about 45 more will be outdoors in the area surrounding the arena.

The booths inside the sports arena will be demonstrating some of the newest technologies and concepts for the oil sector. There will also be some businesses associated with the oil sector.

The larger exhibits will be outdoors.

The oil showcase will be open to the public starting at noon on Thursday, May 8. There will be a banquet in the evening of the 8th at the Redvers Curling Club, with Saskatchewan Energy and Resources Minister Tim McMillan serving as the guest speaker.

The oil showcase will resume at 10 a.m. on May 9.

“Hopefully everyone has a good time and does lots of networking, and we get lots of people out,” said Brisebois.

Exhibitors will have a chance to set up their booths throughout the day on May 7, and during the morning of the 8th.

Brisebois said the oil show has grown significantly since its inception in 2007. She attributed the growth to the impact of the Bakken oil play.

“We're right in the middle of the booming part of Saskatchewan and Manitoba,” said Brisebois. “We get a lot of people from both provinces, and lots of people come to see the new technologies that are coming out, and the new ideas, and to meet other people in the industry.”

The Town of Redvers has also worked hard to attract new businesses, including some from the energy sector, and that has translated into more booths and more people for the oil showcase.

The previous showcase in 2012 attracted approximately 1,500 people. The number of exhibitors this year is similar to two years ago.

The event is organized by the Redvers and District Oil Showcase committee, which also hosts a bonspiel and a golf tournament each year. The funds that are raised through the events are used to support a variety of organizations in the Redvers area.
