Elecs thrive at home tournament

The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior badminton team hosted their annual tournament on April 12.

Dozens of Saskatchewan high school badminton players converged on the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) on April 12 for the ECS Elecs' senior badminton tournament.

Elecs players thrived at the competition, as they won three gold medals, a silver medal and a bronze medal. The gold medallists were Regan Haukeness in boys' singles, Jarrett Daoust and Ryland Daoust in boys' doubles, and Shayla Mosley and Jake Spilchuk in mixed doubles.

Alyssa Cunningham and Madison Daoust won silver in girls' doubles, and Tija Donovan won bronze in girls' singles.

The junior badminton team, meanwhile, had a strong showing at a tournament in Carnduff, finishing first in four events. Tiffany Dacuycuy (girls' singles), Sage Dayman (boys' singles), Vineet Kaushik and Hunter Piche (boys' doubles) and Van Giap and Dawson Nobiss (mixed doubles) brought home gold medals.
