DeLaet makes Masters debut

Comments

Graham DeLaet missed the cut in his first appearance at the Masters golf tournament, but his participation in the first major golf tournament of the year was still an unforgettable experience.

He had a rough start to the Masters, as he bogeyed the first two holes, and six of the first seven, en route to an 8-over-par 80 in the first round. He had five birdies in the second round, but also carded five bogeys, to finish with an even par 72.

He missed the cut by four strokes.

Shortly after his second round, DeLaet tweeted that it was “Still the best week of my life.”

Bubba Watson won this year's Masters by three strokes. It was Watson's second Masters title in three years.

It was the only time DeLaet has missed the cut in eight PGA Tour events in 2014. He has tied for second in two tournaments, has finished in the top-10 in three others, and has pocketed nearly $1.72 million.

DeLaet hails from Weyburn, and is a three-time winner of the Men's Classic tournament at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course. In his last tournament as an amateur in 2006, he won the Saskatchewan Men's Amateur at Woodlawn.
