The Souris Valley (SV) Theatre has announced the details of its second production for the 2014 season.
The Odd Couple, written by Neil Simon, will run from July 23 to August 9. It is a comedic play that has been presented around world, and has been adapted into a movie and numerous television series.
The play opens as a group of men assemble for a game of cards in the very messy apartment of the divorced Oscar Madison. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has recently separated from his wife.
Fastidious, depressed and none too tense, Unger seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds, Madison has murder on his mind, after Unger and Madison decide to room together.
The production will be shown from Tuesday to Saturday night, and there will be matinees on Thursday afternoons. The cast has yet to be finalized for the production, but director Kenn McLeod is working on finding two male leads to bring the show to life
The theatre will also be looking for some local men to be poker players at the beginning of the production.
The SV Theatre has also announced that it will be hosting an Irish-themed fundraiser on Saturday, April 26 at the Estevan Royal Canadian Legion.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. Highlights will include a pizza supper, and live entertainment by Darren McGovern, who will perform some traditional Irish folk songs. Other surprise performers could also be included.
Irish beverages and possibly food will be available throughout the evening to help create the atmosphere of an Irish pub, and there will be Irish activities, too. A silent auction will help raise funds for the theatre.
There will be a limit of 270 tickets available.
