Estevan team captures volleyball tournament

The Estevan South East Giants captured the gold medal at the recent under-18 men's Subway Saskatchewan Cup No. 2.

Estevan defeated the Saskatoon Junior Huskies 2-1 (24-26, 25-20 and 15-13) to win the tournament, which was held in Prince Albert. The Giants finished with a perfect 6-0 record.

Estevan defeated the Swift Current Junior Sun Dogs, the Martensville Outer Limits Hitmen and the host Prince Albert Volleyball Club Smashing Bananas to go 3-0 in the round-robin.

The Giants then beat the Lloydminster VC Cannons in a quarter-final match-up, and the host Smashing Bananas in the semi-finals.

The next scheduled tournament in Saskatchewan for under-18 teams is the provincial championship, which will be April 11 to 13 in Saskatoon.
