Big donation for Creighton Lodge

Participating in a cheque donation to Creighton Lodge were: (Back row, L-R): Creighton Lodge managers Judy Pratt and Shelly Veroba, Estevan Knights of Columbus grand knight Bill Baryluk, Knights financial secretary Albert Petrash, and Knights members and Creighton Lodge residents Cornelius Lucey and Frank de Both. Front row: Creighton Lodge residents Jeanne Wanner, Verna Styre, Marieanna Bonokoski, Theresa Zimmerman, Lenora Wanner and Jean Dukart.

The Estevan Knights of Columbus organization has made a $50,000 contribution to Creighton Lodge.

The money will be directed towards multiple projects at the lodge. The first is the replacement of windows in many of the lodge's suites. Co-manager Shelly Veroba said some of the windows date back to when the lodge was constructed in the late 1950s.

The money will also be used to purchase kitchen equipment, such as a new freezer or a stand-up convection oven.

Any remaining monies will be directed towards the lodge's lounge expansion project.

The money came from the sale of the Knights' building a few years ago. Leading knight Bill Baryluk said that people have supported the Knights for many years, and now they want to use that money from their building's sale to help the community.

Also, several Knights of Columbus members reside in Creighton Lodge, and other lodge residents are widows of deceased members.
