Junior Midgets reach league final


The Estevan Blue Rock Junior Midget Bruins have advanced to the league final in Hockey Regina's midget-15 division.

Estevan swept the Regina Blues in their best-of-three semi-final series, and outscored them 14-4 in the process. Estevan throttled the Blues 9-2 in Game 1 on March 13, and took Game 2 5-2 on the 17th.

JJ Holma had three goals and an assist in Game 1, and Preston Bergen also had a hat trick. Jayden Hanna, Erik McKersie and Cole Skjonsby had the other goals.

Ethan Wanner had a hat trick to pace the Bruins' attack in Game 2. Stevenson and Holma had the other goals.

Cam Lavoie was in goal for both games.

Estevan will play the Melville Millionaires in the league final. Game dates were not immediately available.


The Estevan Century 21 Bantam A Bruins swept their best-of-three quarter-final series against the Regina Blues Bantam A team, and the Bruins have advanced to the semi-finals.

In Game 1 on March 14 in Regina, Estevan won 8-3 in a game that was called after two periods due to ice conditions. The game was tied at 1-1 early in the first, but Estevan scored six unanswered goals in a 25-minute span of the first and second periods.

Conner Friess had three goals and an assist for Estevan. Quintin Davidson added two goals and a helper. Preston Audet, JD Gervais and Jordan Stein had the other goals. Reegan Robinson assisted on four of the markers.

Cody Levesque was in goal.

Two days later, Estevan won 6-5 in overtime in Estevan. Garret Ross scored the winner 11:49 into extra time.

Regina had leads of 3-0 and 4-2, but Estevan rallied for the victory.

Stein scored twice. Audet, Davidson and Kade McMillen had the other goals.

Zack Miller was the winning goaltender.

Estevan will play the Prairie Storm in the next round.
