The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins saw their season come to an end on March 19 in a 6-1 road loss to the top-seeded Regina Capitals.
Regina won the best-of-three South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League semi-final series in three games.
The goal scorer and the goalie for Estevan in Game 3 were not immediately available.
Estevan won Game 1 5-4 on March 13. Regina led 1-0 in the first, but Estevan scored three times in the final 3:09 of the opening frame, including a goal with one second remaining, to lead 3-1. They added two more in the second for a four-goal advantage.
Regina scored thrice in the third to make the game interesting.
Dylan Lay had a hat trick for Estevan. Kyle Salaway added a goal and three assists, and Kaelan Holt also scored.
The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period in Game 2 on March 15 in Estevan, with Holt getting Estevan's lone goal. But Regina scored twice in the second and once in the third to pull away.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal for both games.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins lost 6-5 to Weyburn in Game 1 of the best-of-three Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League consolation round semi-final.
Cole Fonstad and Jayden Davis each scored twice in the first period to give Estevan a 4-2 lead. But Weyburn had four unanswered goals in the second, including two in the final minute, to take a 6-4 advantage.
Fonstad scored his third of the game early in the third to round out the scoring.
Shae Little assisted on three of the goals.
Ethan Veroba was in goal.
Game 2 will be March 20 in Estevan at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium. A date for Game 3 has yet to be established.
The Bruins reached the south final with a 5-2 win over the Regina Monarchs on March 15 to sweep a best-of-three series.
Josh Skjonsby scored twice, including the winner midway through the third period that broke a 2-2 tie, and added an assist. Jayden Davis, Hunter Piche and Brayden Pachal also scored.
Veroba was the winning goalie.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins saw their season come to an end, as they were swept by the Yorkton Terriers in a best-of-three SSMHL semi-final series.
Yorkton won Game 1 13-3 on March 15. Jake Palmer, Mason Strutt and Colby Himmelspach scored for Estevan, who trailed 5-3 midway through the second period. Yorkton scored eight times in the final 27 minutes of the game.
Justin Hertes and Bryson Garton shared the goaltending duties.
Yorkton scored three times in the second to win Game 2 3-0 the following day in Estevan. Garton was in goal.
