Twin, don't resurface

Comments

Dear editor,

Families have long been asking for the provincial government to twin the busy and increasingly dangerous Highway 39.

Sadly, the government has not been listening.

Although families and community groups have made the reasons for twinning Highway 39 clear – for the safety of all drivers, especially young people on the highway – the government responded with an announcement about repaving some sections of Highway 39 near Estevan and Macoun.

This project doesn’t even have a start or an end date.

The families that drive that highway are concerned for their safety and the safety of their loved ones. I have heard too many stories of collisions on that stretch of highway, and it needs to stop. It’s time this government recognizes the urgency of the situation and takes action, before anyone else gets hurt.
