Bantam A Bruins sweep Stars


The Estevan Century 21 Bantam A Bruins have advanced to the next round of Hockey Regina's playoffs, after they swept the Regina Stars in a best-of-three series.

Estevan took both games by a 5-2 score, winning Game 1 on March 7 in Estevan and Game 2 the following day in Regina.

The Bruins jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead in Game 1 on goals by Conner Friess, Zack Holzer and Preston Audet. Regina pulled within a goal on a tally midway through the second, but Logan King scored late in the second to restore the two-goal lead.

Details on the third period were not available.

In Game 2, Jordan Stein and Audet scored in the first period to give Estevan a 2-0 lead, and Stein and Derian Pratt added markers in the second to double Estevan's advantage to 4-0.

The Stars scored twice late in the third to pull within two, but Holzer had an empty netter to clinch the victory.

Goalies for the games were not available.

Estevan is slated to play the Regina Blues in the next round of the playoffs. Dates have yet to be determined.


The Estevan Blue Rock Junior Midget Bruins have been resting, as they finished third in the league standings and earned a bye to the semi-finals, and a match-up with the Regina Blues. Series dates were not immediately announced.
