Novice Bruins third in home tournament

Shaun Von Sprecken (3) pulls away from a Moose Mountain defender during the Tier 1 Novice Bruins' home tournament.

The Estevan Tier 1 Novice Bruins went 2-2 during their home tournament March 8 and 9, and finished third overall.

Estevan opened the tournament with a 5-4 loss to the Weyburn Wings. Nathan Wagstaff and Ty Hoste each scored twice for Estevan.

In the next game, Estevan was down 6-3 with 7 1/2 minutes to play, but scored five unanswered goals, including three goals in the final three minutes, to win 8-6 over the Moose Mountain Drillers.

Denver Sehn had a hat trick, while Hoste and Wagstaff each scored twice. Shaun von Sprecken had Estevan's other goal.

Estevan continued to roll with an 8-5 win over the Melville Millionaires. Hoste had four goals and Wagstaff added three markers. Jordan Marcotte also scored.

The Bruins' final game was an 8-4 loss to the Yorkton Terriers. Wagstaff scored twice, while Hoste and Marcotte also scored.

Tallan Howie was the goalie for all four games.

Five teams were entered in the tournament. The order of finish was determined through a round-robin.
