The Bienfait Coalers and the Wawota Flyers are each one win away from advancing to the Big 6 Hockey League's final.
Bienfait defeated the Carnduff Red Devils 2-1 in overtime in Game 5 of their best-of-seven league semi-final match-up to take a 3-2 series lead. The Coalers will have a chance to clinch the series in Game 6 on March 7 in Carnduff.
Game 7, if necessary, would be March 10 in Bienfait.
Carnduff had a 2-1 series lead, but Bienfait won Game 4 7-1 on February 28, and then took Game 5.
In the other semi-final, the Wawota Flyers beat the Midale Mustangs 4-2 on March 5 in Midale to take a 3-2 series lead.
Midale had won the two previous games to tie their series. Midale won Game 3 5-3 on February 27, and took Game 4 7-6 in overtime on March 1.
Game 6 will be March 7 in Wawota, and Game 7, if necessary, would be two nights later in Midale.
As for provincials, Bienfait (Senior A) and the Redvers Rockets (Senior C) have reached the south finals. Bienfait shut out the Oxbow Huskies 4-0 on February 26 to sweep that best-of-three series. Bienfait will now play Wynyard in a best-of-three series for the right to advance to the provincial final.
Redvers lost 4-2 to Bredenbury in Game 2 of their series on March 1, but Redvers won the two-game, total-goal series 8-6. The Rockets will play Radville in a best-of-three.
