The nomination period has now begun for the vacant seat on Estevan City Council.
City clerk Judy Pilloud said at the March 3 council meeting that nomination forms were available to be picked up starting that day. Nobody has filed a nomination form yet.
The deadline to submit a nomination is at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
The vacancy was created when Chris Istace resigned from council last December, and moved to Chemainus, B.C. Istace had been on council for more than four years.
The by-election will happen on Wednesday, April 23.
Also during the meeting, council approved the fuel and lubricant tender. Southern Plains Co-op was awarded the fuel portion of the tender for $387,040.50, which will be for two years. McComb Automotive Supply will get the lubricant tender for $10,096.29.
Council received the document at their February 24 meeting, but tabled it for a week because of several lingering questions about the fuel portion of the tender.
