Estevan Police Service and Estevan Fire and Rescue Services members responded to a fire alarm at a hotel in northeast Estevan on Thursday night.
The whole building was affected by the alarm. Guests, including some children, were displaced for a period of time. It was determined a small group of people were responsible for the mischief. A fire extinguisher was discharged on one of the floors, which caused damage.
Police have suspects in the matter and will continue to try to identify them. Officers are optimistic that after the suspects have had the night to think about what they have done, they will attend to speak with police.
Also on Thursday night, members responded to a domestic dispute at another hotel a short distance away, and found a male and female who had injuries. They went their separate ways for the night and no further action was required.
Police arrested a 17-year-old for uttering threats. The youth was charged and released on conditions, and will appear in court. Police continue to investigate the incident.
Officers were called to another hotel and arrested a male for public intoxication. He caused a bit of a disturbance and needed a place to sober up.
Police received a report Monday about a collision between two vehicles. When they were exchanging information, the one vehicle drove off. The driver, a 61-year-old female, was located a short time later, and was arrested and charged for impaired driving. No injuries occurred as a result of the collision.
While police were clearing up that call, they were dispatched to a reported robbery and theft. Police responded and located a vehicle on the east end of the city. Two males were arrested for theft and breaching conditions, as well as possession of marijuana. Police continue to investigate details of the incident.
