Fundraiser drew a lot of support

The Estevan Family Resource Centre's fundraiser on February 22 at the Days Inn Plaza attracted a lot of people and generated a lot of revenue, according to family centre coordinator Colleen Macmillan.

A sold out crowd of about 280 people attended the event, she said. Hockey comedy trio Puck 'N' Funny provided entertainment, and there were live and silent auction items.

In keeping with the hockey theme of the comedians, most of the auction items were sports related. There were hockey jerseys and prints, and Saskatchewan Roughriders' tickets and photos.

"We thought that a sports theme was a good direction to go, and the comedy was great to add to that," said Macmillan.

Jewelry was also sold through the auctions.

The three comedians performed separately, but all three generated a lot of laughs, Macmillan said. She says she has received a lot of positive feedback from people who are hopeful that the family centre will bring the trio back in the future.

Funds raised during the benefit will be used to continue general operations at the family resource centre. Macmillan said they needed the fundraiser to be successful to sustain the centre, and to allow them to continue to offer their programs for free to those in the Estevan area.
