The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins closed out the 2013-14 regular season by winning two of their final three games.
Estevan rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat the Weyburn Wings 7-4 on February 19.
Kaelan Holt had two goals and two assists, including the game-winning goal early in the third period. Dylan Lay (two goals and an assist), Kolten Ganson (a goal and two assists) and Kyle Salaway (three assists) had three-point games.
Colton Gingras and Colton Winton also scored.
The Bruins dropped a tight, 3-2 decision against the Swift Current Hurricanes on February 22. Holt and Winton had the goals.
Estevan beat Moose Jaw 4-3 on February 23 in their regular season finale. Holt and Cole Piche scored in the first to give Estevan a 2-0 lead, and then Blaine Herzberg doubled the margin with two goals in the second, including the winner with one second remaining.
Moose Jaw scored three times in the third, but couldn't muster the equalizer.
Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal against Weyburn and Moose Jaw. Landon Audet was the goalie versus Swift Current.
Estevan finished the regular season with a 19-13-4 record. Their playoff seed and opponent have yet to be determined.
Holt and Salaway were first and second, respectively, in league scoring when the Bruins' regular season ended. Holt had 38 goals and 67 points in 32 games, while Salaway had 27 goals and 64 points in 36 games.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins have been eliminated from the championship division in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League's playoffs, and are now in the consolation group.
Estevan was swept by the Melville Millionaires in a best-of-three, first round series. Melville scored three times in the second period to win Game 1 3-0 on February 20.
The Mills won Game 2 4-1. Cole Fonstad scored in the third period for Estevan's lone goal.
Ethan Veroba was in goal for both games.
Estevan's next opponent in the consolation round has yet to be determined.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins wrapped up their regular season with a 9-7 loss in Weyburn on February 22.
Weyburn led 5-1 in the first period, but Estevan fought back to tie by the eight-minute mark of the second period. The two teams traded goals to close out the middle frame.
Weyburn then pulled away by outscoring Estevan 3-1 in the third.
Dawson Schaff had three goals and an assist for Estevan. Colby Himmelspach, Kersey Reich, Mason Strutt and Brennan Strubel also scored.
Bryson Garton and Justin Hertes shared the goaltending duties.
Estevan finished the regular season in fourth place in the SSMHL with a 5-12-3 record, and 13 points. They'll play Moose Jaw in a first round series. Game 1 will be March 1 at 4:45 p.m. at Affinity Place.
The Estevan Gem Well Atom AA Bruins won the B division of a tournament in Fargo, N.D. in late February.
Estevan opened the tournament with a 7-1 loss to the Nashville Junior Predators, but won their next four games: 8-2 over a team from Chaksa, Minnesota; 13-0 over a team from Highland Hills, Colorado; 1-0 over a squad from Omaha, Nebraska; and 4-0 over an entry from Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The Eden Prairie game was the B division final.
Estevan also wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3 loss to the Weyburn Wings on February 19 to finish with a 9-10-1 record in league play.
