Red Devils, Flyers lead series

The Carnduff Red Devils and the Wawota Flyers are leading their respective Big 6 Hockey League semi-final series.

Carnduff has a 2-1 advantage over the Bienfait Coalers. Carnduff defeated Bienfait 8-5 in Game 1 on February 21, and 3-2 in Game 3 on the 25th. Bienfait won Game 2 6-5 on February 22.

Bienfait's loss in Game 1 was their first defeat since a 3-2 loss to the Midale Mustangs on December 19, 2012. The Coalers were undefeated in league play and in playoffs in 2013, and in league play and provincials in 2014.

The Flyers lead the Midale Mustangs 2-0 in the other semi-final. Wawota won Game 1 4-3 in overtime on February 23 in Midale, and took Game 2 4-0 the following night in Wawota.

Game 3 is slated for February 27 in Midale. Game 4 is March 1 in Wawota.

As for provincials, the Coalers defeated the Oxbow Huskies 3-2 in overtime on February 19 to take a 1-0 series lead in their best-of-three south semi-final series. Game 2 is slated to be played February 26 in Oxbow.

Game 3, if necessary, would be February 28 in Bienfait.

The Redvers Rockets beat Bredenbury 6-2 on February 21 in Redvers in Game 1 of their two-game, total-goal Senior C south semi-final series. Game 2 is slated for March 1 in Bredenbury.
