The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs basketball teams came up short in the annual McLeod Series against the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles.
The McLeod Series is a four-game, total-point series between the senior girls' and senior boys' basketball teams from the two schools. Estevan's teams hosted Weyburn on February 4, and then Weyburn had their home games on February 11.
In the opening game on February 4, the senior girls dropped a 61-56 decision to Weyburn. The senior boys, though, were soundly defeated by Weyburn 102-63.
The Eagles had a 163-119 advantage after the first two games.
The other two games were played in Weyburn on February 11. The Elecs boys team lost 92-23, leaving Weyburn with a triple-digit advantage.
Senior boys basketball coach Shane Ross said they only had eight players for the game on February 11, as some players weren't available due to an illness.
The senior girls Elecs dropped a 50-46 decision to the Eagles in Weyburn.
Coach Jessie Smoliak said she was pleased with how her team played in both games, but the game in Weyburn was the better effort.
The Eagles won the series by a combined score of 295-188.
Weyburn has won the McLeod Series for the past 30 years.
