The Estevan Power Dodge Bantam A Chargers won their first game in provincials.
Estevan defeated the Regina Blues 3-1 February 10 in Regina in Game 1 of a two-game, total-goal series. Tatiana Dutka scored in the first period of Game 1 to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. The Blues tied the game with 12 seconds to play in the first.
Ashton Magotiaux's goal four minutes into the second period put Estevan back in the lead, and Megan LeBlanc upped the advantage to two goals with a short-handed tally 5 1/2 minutes into the third to give Estevan a two-goal advantage in the series.
Ashlyn Taillon was in goal.
Estevan also won their most recent game in league play, a 7-1 rout over the Weyburn Athletics.
Araya Wheeler, Dutka and LeBlanc scored in the first period to give Estevan a 3-0 lead. LeBlanc's second of the game in the middle frame upped the advantage to four, but Weyburn scored before the period was over.
Magotiaux, LeBlanc and Jasynn Monteyne tallied for Estevan in the third.
Taillon was in goal.
The Chargers' record in league play is 20-1-1. They'll finish the regular season by hosting the Springside Lions on February 15 at 2:30 p.m. and February 16 at 4:30 p.m. Both games will be at the Civic Auditorium.
The Estevan Power Tech Midget AA Panthers have also been in action in provincials and in league play.
Estevan lost 6-1 at home to a Regina team on February 6 in Game 1 of a two-game, total-goal provincial series. (Estevan's goal scorer and goaltender were not available).
In league play, Estevan defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 6-4 on February 4 in Wilcox. The Hounds had a 4-3 lead with seven minutes to play, but goals by Cassidy Siebert, Taylor Colbow and Jenna Grube less than three minutes apart lifted Estevan to the victory.
Colbow's goal was her second of the game. Hailey Dukart and Cheyenne Grant also scored for the Panthers.
Brianna Cote was in goal.
The Panthers' record in league play is 14-9-2. They'll wrap up the regular season by visiting the Regina Ravens on February 15 and the Weyburn Drillers on the 16th.
