Midget AA Bruins lose to Argos

The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins kicked off a busy stretch of seven games in 13 days by losing 9-4 to the Notre Dame Hounds on February 11 in Wilcox.

The Bruins were down 5-4 late in the second period, but Notre Dame scored late in the second and three times in the third for a lopsided win. Blaine Herzberg scored twice for Estevan, while Dylan Lay and Kaelan Holt also scored.

Tanner Tytlandsvik was in goal.

Estevan's record in league play is 17-10-3. They'll host the Moose Jaw Warriors on February 14 at 8 p.m. at Affinity Place, visit the Regina Wild on February 15, host the Melville Millionaires on February 16 at 5 p.m., and visit the Weyburn Wings on February 19.


The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins extended their unbeaten streak to six games in a 6-6 tie against the Regina Monarchs on February 6.

Estevan trailed 4-0 at one point in the second, but rallied to force the draw.

Brayden Pachal scored twice and Cole Fonstad had a goal and three assists for Estevan. Jayden Davis, Shae Little and Josh Skjonsby also scored.

Jeremy Dumaine was in goal.

Estevan's record is 17-9-4. They'll visit the Yorkton Terriers February 14 in their final game of the regular season.


The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins won the B event at the Tournament of Champions in Brandon, Manitoba, from February 7 to 9.

Estevan opened the tournament with a pair of draws: 3-3 against the Melville Millionaires and 7-7 versus the Brandon Wheat Kings. Then they lost 5-4 to the Lumsden Lions to finish the round-robin with a 0-2-1 record.

The Bruins trounced the Melfort Mustangs 7-1 to advance to the B final, and then they edged the Prairie Storm 2-1. Mason Strutt scored the winner with 13 seconds to play in the game.

Estevan's next action in league play will be February 16 against the Weyburn Youngfellows. The game will start at noon at Affinity Place.


The Estevan Gem Well Atom AA Bruins dropped a pair of road games against the league-leading Swift Current Broncos, losing 7-1 on February 8 and 6-4 the following day.

Estevan's record is 7-8-1. They'll finish the regular season by hosting the Melville Millionaires on February 15 at Affinity Place at noon, and visiting the Weyburn Wings on February 16.
