The Southeast Regional College (SRC) is going to host a job fair in Estevan in the spring.
The event will happen on Wednesday, April 9, at the Saskatchewan Energy Training Institute (SETI), which is also the SRC's Estevan campus. There will be exhibitors from a variety of sectors.
The college held a career fair in 2013 at the SETI, and at its temporary campus at the Weyburn Mall. SRC marketing manager Dave Harazny said the success of the career fair has motivated the college to expand the event to a job fair this year.
“The feedback last year was really good from our exhibitors, and we decided that we wanted to continue with the event in order to link students and job seekers to potential employers in the area,” said Harazny.
Last year the career fair in Estevan was primarily focused on the energy sector. Employers from the oil and gas, coal mining and power generation industries were in attendance.
All of the booths were set up in the SETI's auditorium area.
Retail, financial, health and other sectors have been invited to the job fair. Harazny said the SRC hopes to attract 30 to 40 exhibitors. Booths can be set up in the SETI's foyer and hallways, if necessary.
“This year we're also partnering with the South East Cornerstone (Public) School Division to bring in students from Grades 11 and 12 from Estevan and the surrounding area who are looking for jobs following graduation,” said Harazny.
A job fair will also be taking place at the college's Weyburn campus the following day.
