The Seattle Seahawks took the Denver Broncos to the woodshed, 43-8, at Super Bowl XLVIII. Seattle opened the scoring 12 seconds into the game with a safety and this was just the beginning. By halftime the Seahawks had opened up a 22-0 lead. Then, to compound Denver’s misfortune, Seahawks' return man Percy Harvin opened the second half with an 87-yard kick return for a touchdown. Quarterback Russell Wilson attempted 25 passes while completing 18 for 206 yards and two touchdowns. This is the Seahawks' first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
In NCAA basketball, the No. 3 Florida Gators took out the Mississippi State Bulldogs 69-36 in a one sided game. The Gators are in first in the South Eastern Conference.
In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers ran over the Utah Jazz 102-87. The Clippers are in fourth place in the Western Conference.
In the English Premier League, Manchester lost to Stoke City 2-1 in a close game. Man U’s record is 12-8-4 and they are in seventh place in the League.
In the NHL, the Ottawa Senators lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 in a bad game. The Senators are in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.
In the AHL, the Binghamton Senators took down the Portland Pirates 7-1 in a one-sided game, but then lost to the Manchester Monarchs 5-1. The B-Sens are third in the Eastern conference.
In the WHL, the Regina Pats picked up a couple of wins. First the Pats took down the Saskatoon Blades 6-0, and then followed this up with a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
In the OHL, the Windsor Spitfires took out the Guelph Storm 5-1 in a one-sided game. The Spitfires are in fifth place in the western conference.
