St. Onge advances from qualifier

Wade St. Onge defeated Adam Himmelspach in a best-of-three series on January 25 and 26 to win the Power Dodge Curling Centre's men's club qualifier for the Dominion championships.

St. Onge's rink will now advance to regionals, which will be from February 28 to March 2 in Carlyle.

St. Onge won the first game 7-2 in seven ends, but Himmelspach responded with a 9-2 win in six ends. St. Onge took the deciding game 5-3, after he ran Himmelspach out of rocks in the final end.

Games at Dominions are eight ends.

Other members of St. Onge's rink were: third Layne Hawrylak, second Mike Finnestad and lead Brent Giesbrecht. Bill Kapiczowski had to fill in for Hawrylak on the 26th, forcing the St. Onge rink to change its order.
