The Estevan Apex Midget AA Bruins won two of three league games that they played in late January and early February.
The first game was a 7-4 loss to the Notre Dame Bantam AAA Hounds on January 31. The teams were tied at 4-4 after two periods, but the Hounds pulled away with three power play goals in the third.
Kaelan Holt led the offensive attack with two goals and an assist. Kyle Salaway and Dylan Lay had the other goals.
Estevan responded with an 8-3 win over the Melville Millionaires the following day. Melville had a 3-1 lead three minutes into the second period, but Estevan notched the final seven goals of the game, including five in the third period.
Kale Little had two goals and two assists, while Salaway scored twice and added a helper. Both players had three points in the third period. Holt, Lay, Bailey Lonsberry and Preston Hutt had the other goals.
Estevan wrapped up the busy stretch with a 10-6 win over the Yorkton Terriers on February 2. Lay and Tyler Hengen each had two goals and three assists, while Salaway added two goals and two helpers. Holt, Hutt, Matt Bill and Colton Gingras were the other goal scorers.
Landon Audet was in goal against Notre Dame and Yorkton. Tanner Tytlandsvik was the winning goalie against Melville.
Estevan's record is 17-9-3. They'll visit the Notre Dame Argos on February 11.
The Estevan TS&M Bantam AA Bruins upped their winning streak to five games with a pair of victories.
Estevan doubled up the Melville Millionaires 4-2 on February 1 in a battle of two teams vying for third in the South Division. Josh Skjonsby scored twice for Estevan, while Shae Little and Preston Brodziak also scored.
Ethan Veroba was in goal.
Two nights later, the Bruins beat the Regina Silver Foxes 6-3. Estevan trailed 2-1 after the first period, but scored four unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead by the eight-minute mark of the third. The two teams traded goals in the final 12 minutes.
Cole Fonstad had three goals and an assist for Estevan. Broadziak, Brayden Pachal and Carson Benning scored the other goals.
Jeremy Dumaine was in goal.
Estevan's record is 17-9-3. They'll visit the Regina Monarchs on February 6.
The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins were knocked out of provincial contention by the Yorkton Terriers, losing the two-game, total-goal series 8-1.
Yorkton scored three times in the first period and took Game 1 6-0 in Estevan on February 1. Justin Hertes was in goal.
The next game on February 2 was much closer, but Yorkton came away with a 2-1 victory. The Terriers led 2-0 after the first period. Mason Strutt scored in the second for Estevan's lone goal. Bryson Garton was the goalie.
Estevan also played once in league action, losing 10-4 to the Weyburn Youngfellows on January 29. Estevan had a 2-1 lead at one point in the first period, and the game was tied at 3-3 early in the second, but Weyburn pulled away with seven of the final eight goals.
Alex von Sprecken, Cody Davis, Dawson Schaff and Jake Palmer scored for Estevan. Garton and Hertes shared the goaltending duties.
Estevan's record in league play is 5-11-2. They'll host Weyburn on February 16 at noon at Affinity Place.
