Police report for January 24 and 25


A 22-year-old male is facing six charges, and was remanded into custody, following an incident at a local nightclub on Saturday night. Estevan Police Service members were in the area when they noted the disturbance occurring in the parking lot. The accused refused to leave the area after he was asked several times, and then he became combative with police. Once he was arrested and secured in the back of the police vehicle, he kicked out the rear door window. The accused is charged with assaulting three police officers, mischief under $5,000 and resisting arrest. Police also discovered he was on conditions, as a result of charges he was already facing in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and Fort Nelson, B.C., and so he has been charged accordingly. He made his first local court appearance on Monday.

Police received a call regarding the safety and wellbeing of an individual's neighbor, as she had not been seen in sometime. A check on the residence revealed everything was fine. The matter has been concluded.

Another call was in regards to the wellbeing and whereabouts of another female subject.  Police were able to locate the woman at a nearby residence. Everything was fine and the matter was concluded. 

Police received a call about a suspicious person lurking near a local business. When members checked the area, no one was located. 

Officers spent some time at a local arena after receiving reports of fans getting out of hand at a local minor hockey game. No further problems occurred once police were on the scene. They remained until the game ended, when everyone left. Police want to remind the public it is unlawful to cause disturbances in such settings. Such behavior could lead to an arrest and charges. 

Police attended a local business after a report of a shoplifter was received. A 54-year-old female was charged with theft under $5,000. She will make a court appearance on February 24.

Police attended a disturbance in the Pleasantdale area after a family member reported she was concerned for a parent. After speaking with the family, the matter was defused and no further action was required. 

A call for assistance from an elderly lady at a local apartment complex was also received.  On arrival, police learned she had fallen and needed some assistance. She was not injured. 

While on patrol on Friday night, police located an intoxicated male walking in the middle of Fourth Street in downtown Estevan. He was taken into custody and later released to a sober friend who took responsibility for him.   

Police were called to a local nightclub to assist in removing an intoxicated male. He initially refused to leave. Upon police arrival, the subject had left the area. Patrols of the immediate area did not locate anyone. Approximately 20 minutes later, members patrolling the downtown area located the same accused individual outside a local business. He was extremely intoxicated, was taken into custody for his own safety, and released when sober.   

Police were called to the same nightclub a little later after a fight broke out in the parking lot. One subject received injuries that required treatment at the scene by EMS personnel.  One of the males involved in the altercation had left the area. The matter is under further investigation. 

Police conducted a traffic stop in the Pleasantdale area, which lead to a 20-year-old female being taken into custody for impaired driving. She was later released with a court date for February 24. 

Police were called to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, one of the subjects had already left the residence, which defused the matter. No further action was required.
